About the Program
Honoring Louisiana's Fishing History
The Legacy Catches program recognizes largemouth bass weighing 8 pounds or more that were caught in Louisiana waters before the official Louisiana Lunkers program began. Whether you landed a double-digit bass decades ago or your grandfather has a photo of a lifetime catch — those fish deserve recognition. Submit your historical catch for review and earn your place in the Louisiana Lunkers Legacy Hall of Fame.
Historical catches are not eligible for current-season cash prizes, the annual grand-prize drawing, or the $25,000 State Record Challenge. Legacy recognition is a separate historical honor program.

Anglers who submit a verified 13+ pound historical catch are eligible to receive one complimentary custom State Lakes lake board — a personalized commemorative piece featuring your name, the lake, the fish weight, and the catch date. Lake boards are handcrafted by State Lakes Apparel, Louisiana's premier fishing lifestyle brand.
Complimentary lake board is subject to documented verification, program eligibility, and availability. One per angler. Standard State Lakes lake board retail value applies.
Eligibility
What Qualifies
Caught Before Program Launch
The catch must have occurred before the official Louisiana Lunkers program launch date.
Louisiana Waters
The fish must have been caught in a Louisiana lake, river, bayou, or other qualifying Louisiana waterbody.
Minimum 8.00 lbs
The fish must have weighed at least 8.00 pounds at the time of catch, as supported by available documentation.
Largemouth Bass Only
Only largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) qualify for the Legacy Catches program.
Supporting Documentation
Photographs, weigh-in slips, tournament records, or other supporting evidence are required. The strength of documentation affects verification status.
